Following a disaster, financial assistance may be available to those who have been displaced or lost their homes. The availability of financial assistance for the public following a disaster will be determined by many factors.
Apply for individual assistance
There are several ways to see if you qualify for individual assistance after a disaster:
- Find out if you qualify for disaster relief by using that address lookup on DisasterAssistance.gov
- Complete this online questionnaire and disaster assistance application.
- Call 1-800-621-3362 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585)
- Government officials may establish Disaster Recovery Centers in your area. These locations will be publicized if they are activated.

The Small Business Administration provides low-interest loans to help homeowners and small businesses recover from declared disasters. You can find out if you are eligible and apply online.
